School Nutrition Guidelines for the ACT
Schools in the ACT can now implement the new National Healthy School Canteen guidelines. These guidelines provide a nationally consistent traffic light system for food and drinks served in school canteens, and aim to help school canteens provide more 'green' food and drink options to students, whilst maintaining financial stability.
ACT Health, in partnership with the ACT Department of Education and Training, offer support to all government, Catholic and independent ACT schools, at no cost to the school or school canteen, to assist with rolling-out the guidelines.
The National Healthy School Canteen guidelines complement the Nourish - the FACTS (Food in ACT Schools) guidelines, which provide practical assistance to school communities across a variety of school food settings. Nourish - the FACTS was developed to enable schools to follow better practice in food and nutrition.
