The Parents' Jury advocates for improved healthy eating environments for Australian children.
What children eat during infancy and childhood can influence their future eating habits, weight and health for life. A balanced and varied diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables is vital for optimal nutritional intake. Children need healthy food for energy, brain function, growth and development.
Many parents find it a challenge to consistently provide healthy food that is interesting and appealing to children. This can be even more challenging when children's food preferences are influenced by an abundance of unhealthy options in environments such as schools, supermarket checkouts and sporting venues, and the constant barrage of television and print food marketing.
The Parents' Jury hopes to provide parents with enough information and resources to advocate for supportive environments that encourage and promote healthy eating to children.
